Elder Larsen is serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This means that for 2 whole years, he has dedicated himself to bringing the restored gospel to the people of Equador, Guayaquil West. He has been preparing for this mission since he was a young boy, and is serving not as an obligation, but as a carefully and faithfully determined decision.
Members of the LDS Church are often referred to as “Mormons” which is because in addition to the New and Old Testaments, “Mormons” view the Book of Mormon as another Testament of Jesus Christ. Mormons believe that through Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ’s Church has been restored in the fullness of times as it would’ve been in Christ’s day. This includes the construction of Temples in which saving ordinances are performed, the organization of a 1st Presidency with a Prophet of God at the helm and aQuorum of the 12 Apostles, a direct line of authority through the Priesthood, and modern day revelation. Perhaps the most dearly held belief of Mormons is that Families are of God, and thus are eternal.
To us, the word gospel means “good news” and we think everyone ought to have the chance to hear this good news we just can’t get enough of! Elder Allen is sacrificing much to share this good news, and he would love it if you took the time to learn more about our religion. There’s more to Mormons than just not drinking coffee 😉
